Our Story

1990 - Where it started
Advocacy Alliance was established in 1990. A small grass roots charity created to provide free, independent and confidential advocacy to empower individuals and enable them to have their voice heard. Throughout the years they have supported thousands of people but felt they were still not reaching everyone who needed them. Consultation reveled one of the issues was the name Advocacy Alliance which was confusing, many said it sounded like an insurance company.
So after 35 years they have changed to Help Hub giving a clear message that we are here to try and help people when they are stuck.

2025 - Help Hub
As Help Hub we will still be providing independent advocacy across Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Filey and all the surrounding areas. However, we will also become more visible in these communities by partnering up with established groups and creating drop-ins. These drop-ins will give people opportunity to ask for help face to face.

The Future
Our aim for the future is to build Help Hub's across all areas especially in places where accessing support is difficult. We feel we can do this by building a team of community volunteers that will become the face of Help Hub across our areas.
If you are interested in supporting us to grow Help Hub through collaborative working, funding or volunteering then get in touch.
